Title of the paper : Analysis of the Tools of LOVE [ENTER]

Author or topic: Paul Kafka

Abstract : I have thoroughly analysed the Tools that the author tries to transmit to the reader through his work. Paul Kafka allows the reader to enter a circle of four friends (DanBeckBou and Margot) who share secrets as well as experiences. Following the laws of hypertextual fiction, the author lays before us differents moments on the life of the main character, Dan, from which we can choose where to start. That “click” will let us continue understanding his circle of friends, as well as his passionate feelings for two different women (Bou and Margot)  and what they represent to him. This love dichotomy intertwines with his experiences as a fourth-year subintern in New Orleans.

I hope I reflect in my conclusion the feelings that this hypertext has made me revive while analyzing  the Tools that Paul Kafka kindly devised.

Title of the paper: him   (time aspect)

Author or topic: Dane Watkins (18 Oct. 1965 – )

Abstract : In this paper I worked on him time aspect analysing its text sequences. I drew a first hypothesis which proved to be wrong when asking advice to the author himself. Although in this hypertext you find some time references to the pastpresent and future, the author’s intention was to move away from traditional timelines. He inspired on dada poetry picking statements randomly from media resources, as a kind of stream of consciousness art.

You can also have a look at his autobiography and web page where you can find the artist’s statement, a current resume of his whole work, and a very interesting selection of animations.

Author or topic : Ruth Wyman & William Gillespie

Abstract :

This paper is going to analyse the spatial aspects of this hypertext, and explain why they are the key to understand and enjoy the text. The work is taken from William Gillespie´s Newspoetry project which consisted on writing  a poem a day about current affairs. In order to have a wider understanding of this hypertext, background information about Newspoetry and the author, and also a brief summary of the stories that make up CSCA, have been presented. Moreover, a characters analysis has also been done because they are the main conductors of this story.  Theconclusion obtained will reveal us different worlds (internal and external spaces) that interweave to create a unique story under the common ground of Corporate abuse. A list of Works cited can also be found in this paper.

Title of the paper : “Analysis of the time in Winter Break

Author or topic : Eisen, Adrienne

Abstract : I will be basing my analysis on Adrienne Eisen’s hypertext ‘Winter Break’. To begin with an introduction where I will explain how to deal with this closely new form of reading named hypertext. A good definition of hypertext will be “a collection of texts interconnected by hyperlinks, which allow the user to choose different paths”. I have analised this hypertext from the point of view of time, following these paths. To understand well the plot of the story, the reading of the whole story is needed, after that I have done a brief summary of characters‘ features. Appear several spaces in “Winter Break”, nevertheless there are slightly references to time. To finish my analysis I will do a conclusion with some extra information about her; as well as a biography of Adrienne Eisen and a bibliography, where I will put all the links and information that I have checked.

Author or topic : Carolyne Guyer

Abstract : I have chosen the hypertext created by Carolyne Guyer with Rosemary Joyce and Michael Joyce, “Sister Stories”, because at first, I thought that this hypertext would be a great story of Aztecs, but now I know that I was wrong, it’s rather like a story of Aztec culture, but it’s also interesting.

In this paper I’m going to treat the aspect of time, there are many other aspects that can be treated in hypertexts like space and tools, and I have mentioned a little about them, but I have focalized in the time. Furthermore, I have made an introduction, where I explain what hypertexts are and I explain briefly some aspects of “Sister Stories”. Finally, I have written a conclusionto talk about my first experience with this modern form of read texts.

One of them is a general summary of this short story where I talk about different “chapters” and several ways of reading the text. Abstract:

I’m going to work on the hypertext “Same Day Test” written by Gavin Inglis, a Scottish author residing in Edinburgh. My analysis consists on an introduction where I explain the concepts of hypertext and hypertext fiction and where I make a brief introduction to the author’s life and to the hypertext topic; the main part of the work will consist on a formalistic analysis of the hypertext focusing on how it has been built up: page style, images, links, different endings we can find, vocabulary used…and a conclusion.

I’ve had the opportunity to ask some questions to Gavin Inglis, and he has answered to all of them. The information given has been very useful to make progress in my analysis, that’s why I want to include my e-mail correspondence with him.
